Bare-bones Blogging: Scirocco Dress by Figgy's

Flower-girl Dresses

Fabric: cotton/silk by Marc Jacobs from The Fabric Store
Alterations: additional tier added, access gaping removed from back
Accessories: hairpieces made by the girls

(L-R Katherine's daughter and my daughter, Meg)

My youngest sister was married in December. She invited her four nieces to be flower-girls, much to their delight. My mother sewed my brother's daughter's dress. My younger sister sewed her daughter's dress and Katherine and I each sewed dresses for our daughters. I think we all managed to pull this off magnificently given that we are spread out between Victoria, South Queensland, Far North Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Aren't the tiers and bodice backs just lovely!

One of the happiest and loveliest memories of the day for me was regularly spotting four little turquoise-dressed girls, either scrambling up rocky banks, wandering through rose gardens, running up paths and playing badminton on the lawns. So delightful!

  1. Gorgeous! So everyone is a talented sewer!

  2. Those dress are gorgeous. I love that each dress has been made by different members of your family. Everyone did a great job

  3. They look stunning! Great coordination.

  4. Your family is just full of beautiful girls!

  5. Beautiful dresses (and girls!).

  6. Absolutely adorable dresses on adorable young girls. I too love the combined family effort that went into making them. Clare now thinks that she knows what dress she wants for her Grade Six Graduation at the end of the year!
