Last year a friend of mine gave birth to her third child - little Harvey Otis. Unfortunately, the following day her husband had to fly to Brisbane for a week for work. To make up for his absence, I sewed Harvey a Nick Softie, named after his father of course.
Although hard to see from my dodgy mobile phone photos, it was created using fabric textas and applique. The hair is felt, the pants are denim and the skin and skirt are made from cotton.
My husband, Paul actually drew the figure for me. I think the likeness is pretty spot on - complete with black nail polish and tatts (which have been added to considerably since).
The ribbons were added for holding, chewing, rubbing, anything really.
I originally got the idea to make a softie like this from Hideous! Dreadful! Stinky!
