Mermaids

Last week was a much anticipated week in our household. Meg, my eldest, turned 4 - so very big and so very grown up (she'll happily tell you all about it...again and again and again). Anyway, I had little choice but to make her a mermaid cake for her birthday. She had already decided some time again that she'd like a mermaid cake. I was quite shocked today when I overhead her telling her father, only 2 days into her forth year, that next year she's having a garden cake! Only 363 days to go!

So here it is - the mermaid cake. So much fun!

And for the special day, a sweet little mermaid dress and matching headband. I used the Popover Dress by Oliver + S  but changed it slightly. It has a cute little row of pink rickrack and a little blue and pink ribbon just to add to the cuteness. It's her new favourite - you can't ask for better than that!

  1. That cake is just glorious. How was the popover dress pattern? Are you happy with it? Just wondering if I should print it out for Lucy. Happy Birthday Meg, you are so very big and so very grown up.

  2. What an amazing cake! That must have taken hours to decorate.
