An a-line skirt of the funky kind!

I finally finished this a-line skir t I started weeks and weeks ago. After cutting it out, things came to a screaming halt because I was scared it looked all a bit ordinary. Ordinary wasn't really what I was aiming for. I was hoping more for groovy, funky and original. I was hoping for a piece that celebrated the 'organic-arty- hand screen-printed-ness' of the fabric (Bird Textiles ) but feared it was looking all a bit, well, Target-y.

So it sat for weeks while I pondered over pockets, trims, buttons, drawstrings and other fancy embellishments. I finally arrived halfway - no pockets and a bottom trim. I still felt, however that something was missing. My siste r then suggested bringing some of the design down onto the trim and voila! That was it!

I'm really happy with the way this skirt turned out and I've been getting heaps of really nice comments when I've worn it. Everyone has been telling me how funky it is - and no one has asked if I bought it from Target. Phew!
