Treasure Bags

My children loooove to collect treasures. Whenever we go for walks, my husband and I are constantly having our pockets stuffed with all sorts of little finds - seeds, seed pods, shells, leaves, sticks, anything really. So when I came across these little treasure bags sewn from upcycled insect screen, I knew they'd be perfect for my kidderoonies! That way the treasures go in and the sand, dirt and water fall out.

We already had a large roll of insect screen out in the shed so all that was needed was for me to raid my ever increasingly large pile of fabric scraps and I was all set to go! It was such a quick and easy little project, yet surprisingly satisfying - they really do look quite cute!

I was lucky enough to enlist the help of my father-in-law to assist with this project while he was visiting for a few weeks. He spent much of his working life as a cartographer and therefore has the neatest handwriting I've ever seen - perfect for writing out the little labels! He really did a wonderful job!

  1. These look a great idea...but I know that we would have in the car boot at all the wrong times and then forget to take them out when we needed them...otherwise I would make some myself.
