Summer Fun!

Bubbly by the pool for afternoon tea....

and later fish & chips and gelati down by the Esplanade for dinner!

I've been on the hunt lately for an easy-to-sew, cool-to-wear, fun-to-look-at summer dress. Something that I can wear around the house comfortably on a hot, humid day but just as easily slip out in to catch up with friends or go to the supermarket. I live in the tropics, so very casual is very acceptable.

I decided to have a go at New Look 6700. It looked to be an easy pattern that could do as a dress or  top. Here's my first go sewn in a double muslin that I had bought some months ago to make into baby wraps that never happened. It is a bit see-through as a dress but will still look super-stylish worn over swimmers.

I thought the all-white look needed a lift, so I went for a bright orange ribbon around the neck and this funky little striped ribbon on the pockets.
